Hannah's Story
At 23-years of age, Hannah knows what it’s like to take a hit from a bad economy.
The mother of a 1-year-old son, named Joey, Hannah has been working as a housekeeper while she waits to get into beauty school. Hannah’s hours have been cut and now she is down to working two days a week. Additionally, the young mother receives no child support from Joey’s father and is the only breadwinner in her small household.
“I don’t even have enough money for gas,” Hannah said. “My biggest challenges are affording gas, diapers and wipes.”
At a recent Mobile Food Bank distribution, held in Post Falls, Hannah was able to get a wholesome mix of fresh apples, onions, lettuce, potatoes, whole grain bread, crackers and other food. Getting food assistance will help free up money for Hannah to buy the things she needs for herself and her son, including a gel to help relieve pain while he’s teething.
“This will really help,” she said.
