Stephanie's Story
Raising four children on a single
income is difficult for Stephanie and her husband. The Coeur d’Alene couple
lives a family-focused life that’s based on necessities, not wants. “Extras”
like eating at restaurants and going on vacations don’t come often, Stephanie
said.
The mother of four searches for grocery store bargains while trying to provide a healthy diet for the children, ages one to 10, but said affording produce has become increasingly difficult as prices have increased.
“Fruits and vegetables are just so expensive and they are something that the children love to munch on,” Stephanie said.
So Stephanie and her children attended a recent Second Harvest mobile food bank distribution at Lakes Middle School in Coeur d’Alene. There she was able to get fresh apples, potatoes and other healthy foods for her family.
“My husband is the main worker in the family. His one income alone isn’t enough.”
