Colleen's story

Colleen and her daughter Genevieve wait in the crisp, cold morning to get in to the Spokane Arena and pick up their turkey dinners. “This is our first time coming down here,” Colleen said. “I’m disabled and not working. Today I finally feel well enough to come and stand in line.”

Like many here today, Genevieve is hoping food from Second Harvest will help offset rising medical expenses. “We ran out of money," she said. “About two or three years ago, I got sick. We had a gigantic bill. My husband and I had to move back in with his dad.”
