The Spokane Food Circle Group is comprised of seven local food retailers, brokers and suppliers that include Rosauers Supermarkets, Harvest Foods, Williams Inland Distributors, Kraft Foods, Acosta Marketing, Coca Cola and Franz Bakery.
The Group was formed in 2002 to assist local nonprofits in fulfilling their community missions. Since that time, more than $203,500 has been raised and distributed to area organizations through the group's signature event: Karts 4 Our Community. Business sponsors pledge $500 for an opportunity to bring up to 16 employees to the FastKart Indoor Speedway to race in motorized go-carts as a teambuilding event. The two fastest racers then represents their company in a final event that pits winners from each sponsoring business against each other for bragging rights.
Since 2007, current beneficiaries — Second Harvest, Transitions and Cancer Patient Care — have shared just over $124,500 in proceeds raised by the Spokane Food Circle Group through Karts 4 Our Community.
The partnership of The Spokane Food Circle Group and the three local charities truly makes an impact on the lives of the underserved and struggling members of our community.
